Like other monotremes, the platypus senses prey in cloudy water by electrolocation. The male platypus has a spur about the hind foot that provides a very unpleasant venom, rendering it among the few species of venomous mammals. This platypus was photographed swimming inside of a creek near Scottsdale in Tasmania. Photograph credit score: Charles J.
